Using Vegetation as Concealment

Image
Just as the Green Giant uses vegetation to conceal himself, doing the same in World of Tanks is proven to be an effective strategy.   As mentioned in my previous post , concealment comes in two different varieties.  The type your tank comes out with straight from the garage, and the concealment you can create for yourself through the use of trees and bushes.   The trees and bushes are separated into two categories.  Those with foliage(leafy appearance) and those without.   This distinction is made to highlight the variability between the concealment offerings of foliage vs no foliage.   Bare bushes and trees will offer an additional twenty-five points to your concealment rating, while bushes and trees with foliage will offer fifty.  Given that you are able to keep your vehicle's spotting points fully concealed. This would mean that if your tank is coming out of the garage with fifteen percent concealment and you are able to hide al...

View Range/Spotting Vehicles

Image
How do I shoot at something I don't see? You don't... (unless you're good.  Then you know how to blind shot effectively) How then do I spot enemies to shoot at? Within World of Tanks, there is a view range mechanic.  Technically, a tank's view range is the maximum distance at which it is able to spot an enemy tank.   For example... ^^Chart 1^^ In the instance above, there are two vehicles.  The enemy vehicle, an E100, and your tank, an Elc Even 90. The distance between the two vehicles is 500 meters.  Assuming that both vehicles have a 0% camo rating and there is no cover between the vehicles, you would spot the enemy E100 as they are within your spherical 500-meter view range radius.   ^^ Chart 2 ^^ (The chart above is a 2-D visual representation of how the view range behaves)   Chart 2 is a bird's eye view of how the view range would play out from the stats provided in chart 1.  However, because World of Tanks is a three-dimensio...

Vehicle Concealment Rating

Vehicle Concealment: What is it? How does it work? How do I improve my concealment? In World of Tanks , concealment comes in two forms.  The concealment rating of your tank and the added concealment you could take advantage of through the use of terrain features.  For the purpose of this post, the discussion will primarily be about the raw camo values of the tank, not the concealment in the form of in-game terrain. What is a concealment rating and how does it work? A concealment rating is quite wordy to define in a sentence or two.  The basic premise is it's a tank's percentage-based penalty applied to the view range of enemy vehicles.   For example... Say your tank has a concealment rating of fifty percent.  This would mean that an enemy tank with a view range of 500m, without taking terrain features into consideration, would only spot you within 250m. However, That's not considering the 50m of free view range every tank is automatically equipped with. ...

Opening a Can of Whup-ass

World of Tanks  is a special game.  What makes it so special?   1. World of Tanks offers a lot of in-game progression.   2. There is a vast network of content creators(community contributors) and in-game clan mates. 3. There is a combination of various skill floors/ceilings that allows a variety of play styles.   (Skill Floor - How effective a beginner can be in a vehicle/situation) (Skill Ceiling - How effective a veteran player can be in a vehicle/situation)  However, for the past several years, the World of Tanks player base has been experiencing a phenomenon where the majority of games are 5 min or less, and the end score is 0-15.  Players are finding this to be a serious issue. While collectively, it's all one symptom, arguably, there are two factors the issue is stemming from.  The matchmaker, the system used by Wargaming to create in-game teams, and the player base.  However, because addressing the matchmaker and commun...
